Club maritim Erfurt e.V.
Club maritim Erfurt e.V. is a sea-sports and sailing club on Alperstedter See northeast of Erfurt, offering sailing as well as rowing, swimming, canoeing and offshore sailing. The club grounds feature a boat hall, jetties, a clubhouse and a club fleet including Kutter ZK10, Ixylon, 420er, Optimist and Lola. A strong focus is on youth development with Optimist training, Friday regattas and summer camps; adults and recreational sailors also find a varied programme. Since its founding in 1977, the club has become one of Thuringia's successful sea-sports clubs, with performance centres and numerous championship titles.
History
The history of Club maritim Erfurt e.V. began on 11 November 1977 with the founding of the sea-sports section of VEB-Optima Büromaschinenwerk Erfurt. First came a club and training room on the Petersberg; in 1979 a base followed at the gravel lake in Schwerborn. From 1984 the athletes built their present home at Alperstedter See: in 1985 a campfire site and first bungalow, in 1986 a jetty from 160 dredger sleepers, in 1987 more bungalows and in 1987/88 the nearly 300 m² boat hall. On 16 May 1990 the club was registered as Marineclub Erfurt e.V. as No. 1 in the Erfurt district register; since 1993 it has borne its present name and since 1994 has belonged to the Erfurt municipal sports federation. In 1990 the club lost two thirds of its members when Thüringer Wassersport GmbH took over buildings and grounds and the club survived as a subtenant. From 1994 came a lease, conversion into a club and sailors' home, boat sheds, berths and, with over 2,500 hours of voluntary work, sanitary facilities, club office, training room and heating. In 2000 the main jetty was renewed and the LSB Thuringia environmental award was granted; floating pontoons followed in 2005, and in 2010/11 the purchase and conversion into a maritime multigenerational house. Sporting highlights include the Blaue Kristall of Thuringia, the Thuringian Opti Cup and many German championship titles: first DM titles in 1993, the most successful year in 1998 with 13 gold medals, hosting the 2006 European Championships in sea-sports multi-discipline, and again DM in Erfurt in 2010. Since 1997 the club has been a state performance centre for sea sports, since 1998 a regional centre and since 2010 an integration centre; it is a member of DSSV, DSV, LSB and SSB Erfurt among others.
