Segler Club Templin e.V.
Segler Club Templin e.V. is one of the oldest clubs in Templin and was founded on 1 April 1921. The club grounds with a restaurant are located directly on Templin Town Lake on Prenzlauer Allee and offer jetties including a renovated Pirate pier, a slipway, berths and boat halls. Special emphasis is placed on children and youth work with club-owned boats, regular training and participation in regattas and training camps in the region. The club also organises its own events such as the friendship regatta on the town lake and is a member of the German Sailing Association and the Brandenburg Sailing Association.
History
Segler Club Templin e.V. was founded on 1 April 1921 and is among the oldest clubs in Templin. Over its history the club lived through the Weimar Republic, National Socialism and the GDR era up to liberal democracy. On 1 April 2021 the club celebrated its centenary; due to the coronavirus pandemic most planned celebrations were cancelled, so the board gave active sailors a birthday gift instead. The statutes were amended several times, including in 1995, 2008, 2014, 2022 and most recently on 27 February 2025. Dietmar Bootz chaired the club for about ten years before the members' meeting on 26 February 2026 elected a new board: Matthias Letzin as chair, Thomas Lauchs as deputy chair, Brigitte Bartnitzki as treasurer, Heiko Ziethmann as youth officer and Andreas Meth as secretary. In 2025 the Pirate pier was renovated in steel construction and fitted with an under-run guard. The youth section is competitively successful: Cadet crews have raced at world championships, state youth championships and cups; the club is also strongly represented in the Seggerling class. Today the club has about 74 members, including 12 juniors and children, and maintains grounds with a restaurant directly on Templin Town Lake.
