Segler-Verein Staad e.V. is a charming sailing club in Konstanz-Staad on Lake Constance, located directly next to the ferry. The club has its own small harbour with guest berths, a clubhouse with catering on weekends during the sailing season, as well as sanitary facilities and harbour infrastructure. Core activities include racing with in-house Thursday and anniversary regattas, youth training in Optimist, ILCA, 420, 470 and 29er classes, and cruising. The youth section has existed since 1966 and comprises around 60 children; in the anniversary year the club celebrates 75 years.
History
Segler-Verein Staad e.V. was founded 75 years ago and is a traditional sailing club in Konstanz-Staad on Lake Constance, right next to the ferry. The clubhouse in the middle of the lake and the club harbour still shape club life today. The youth section has existed since 1966 and currently includes around 60 children and juniors. Since autumn 2001 the SVS again has its own youth board that independently looks after junior sailors. The club has always been race-oriented: internal Thursday races decide the club champion over the season, complemented by anniversary regattas, the Eichhorn Regatta and participation in Midweek Races and the International Lake Constance Week. Cruising is also part of the programme, documented for example by logbook reports such as the 2026 Caribbean cruise. Youth sailors achieve success on national and international courses, including YES in Kiel-Schilksee and the 29er World Championship. For the 75th anniversary in 2026 the club organises an anniversary series and public celebrations such as the early brunch at the ferry landing.
