Segelvereinigung Neptun e.V. (SVN) is a traditional sailing club in the southeast of Berlin on Grünauer Straße in Berlin-Köpenick. The club continues sailing at the same location and builds on a history dating back to 1922. The grounds offer berths and storage spaces, a slipway with crane and winch, and a boat house with workshop and youth room. New members with or without a boat are welcome; there is a probationary year and club-owned 420s after instruction. Racing, cruising, launch and haul-out events and the summer festival shape club life. The club is a member of the German Sailing Federation and the Berlin Sailing Federation.
History
Segelvereinigung Neptun e.V. continues a nearly one-hundred-year sailing tradition since 1922. Under different names and social systems, a community with its own customs developed at this location. At the turn of 2019 to 2020, the sailing section of Köpenicker Sport Club e.V. (KSC-S) was dissolved. In sporting tradition, the same team revived Segelvereinigung Neptun e.V. (SVN) and continues sailing at the same place. Events of earlier decades are part of the chronicles, which the club is gradually preparing to share history and traditions publicly. Today SVN sees itself as a non-profit sports club with membership in the German Sailing Federation (DSV registration number B-143) and the Berlin Sailing Federation. Club life and grounds maintenance rely on work duties, slipway dates and joint events such as launch and haul-out as well as the summer festival.
