Wilhelmshavener Segelclub e.V.
Wilhelmshavener Segelclub e.V. is the oldest sailing club on the Jade and maintains a tradition of more than one hundred years in Wilhelmshaven with around five hundred members. The club operates two harbour facilities with around one hundred berths each at Nassauhafen and at Hooksmeer in Hooksiel as well as the Seglerheim clubhouse at Nassauhafen. The programme includes youth sailing with club-owned boats, Wednesday races on the Inner Jade, cruising and annual club regattas in the Jade area. Children from the age of seven and juniors train from April to October on Thursdays in the Hooksiel club harbour; more advanced juniors gain experience in racing and cruising. Founded in 1908 as Wilhelmshavener Seglerverein and merged in 1946 with Segler Verein Rüstringen into today's WSC, the club combines sheltered inland water with demanding tidal waters on the North Sea coast.
History
In 1908 the Wilhelmshavener Seglerverein was founded; in the founding year a race was already held with seven boats. In 1909 the Najade appeared as the club's first proper yacht and undertook pre-First World War voyages to Oslo, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Hamburg and Vegesack. The youth section was founded on 11 February 1925. In 1927 the Reichsmarine took part in races with 33 yachts. The 1930s were marked by junior races, long cruises such as the Norway voyage of Bertha and Margot covering 1159 nautical miles, as well as Jade Week 1936 and North Sea Week 1937. After the Second World War the old sailing clubs were banned; on 22 June 1946 Wilhelmshavener Segelclub was authorised by the military government and merged with Segler Verein Rüstringen founded in 1927. As early as 28 August 1947 the club sailed its first regatta on the Jade with 24 boats. In 1951 a ten-hour race was introduced; in 1956 members brought a 280-square-metre yacht from Cadiz to Nassauhafen in three and a half weeks. Today the WSC has around five hundred members, runs harbours in Wilhelmshaven and Hooksiel and offers racing, cruising and youth sailing in the Jade and coastal waters.

Facilities
Two harbour facilities with around one hundred berths each: Nassauhafen Wilhelmshaven with concrete floating pontoons, finger pontoons, slipways, a 300 kg mast crane, boat halls and winter storage as well as about 100 catamaran and dinghy shore places from April to October; Hooksiel at Hooksmeer with a sea lock; Seglerheim at Nassauhafen with club and restaurant rooms, terrace and restaurant.
Activities
Youth sailing and youth championships, Wednesday sailing and after-work races on the Inner Jade, annual club regatta in the southern Jade area, participation in city championships, KSW club regattas and Jade-Weser-Port-Cup, cruising with cruise competition and cruise reports, island trips and long-distance passages.
Youth section
Active youth section with youth sailing from April to October every Thursday from 16:00 at the Hooksiel club harbour on club-owned boats; taster sessions from age 7, focus on dinghy sailing and regional regattas; contact youth leader Helmut Lotze.

Unused club berths available
