Segelclub Männedorf

Segelclub Männedorf (SCMd) is a medium-sized, dynamic and sporting sailing club on Lake Zurich in Männedorf with a strong regatta and junior section. The clubhouse at Seestrasse 328 is used for sporting activities and internal events; the grounds include a dry storage area, rigging area, winch, ramp and jetty. Sailing takes place among others on Optimist, ILCA, 29er and the club-owned J/70; ambitious regatta sailors use the regatta pool with Onyx yachts. Children and young people aged about 7 to 20 train weekly, and the club offers leisure to regatta sailing up to Swiss championships. Founded in 1973, the club has around 250 active members and belongs to Swiss Sailing and the Zurich Sailing Federation.

History

Segelclub Männedorf (SCMd) was founded in 1973 and has since developed into a medium-sized, dynamic and sporting sailing club with a strong regatta and junior section. The club currently has around 250 active members and, through admission by the general assembly, is also a member of Swiss Sailing and the Zurich Sailing Federation (ZSV). The clubhouse at Seestrasse 328 in Männedorf is actively used for sporting activities and internal events and is available exclusively to members. Since 2018, club members sail year-round on the club-owned J/70; juniors and active members train together, and an ambitious J/70 team successfully takes part in regattas throughout Switzerland. The Regatta Pool Segelclub Männedorf (RPSCMd) enables experienced sailors to race three Onyx yachts (Werubau SUI 001, S2 Immobilien Promo SUI 002 and Veriset SUI 027) in the Compass Cup. The junior section trains children and young people aged about 7 to 20 on Optimists, ILCA and 29er; for 2026 a converted construction trailer is available as an additional changing room. On the club grounds the club operates a dry storage area for dinghies, catamarans and smaller motorboats up to 500 kg as well as spaces for canoes, surfboards and SUP boards; rigging area, winch, ramp and jetty serve rigging and launching.

Activities

Year-round sailing on the club-owned J/70, junior training on Optimist, ILCA and 29er, regatta pool on Onyx yachts in the Compass Cup, club gatherings and leisure sailing, winter sailing, participation in regattas in Switzerland as well as Swiss championships and international competitions.

Youth section

Active junior section for children and young people aged about 7 to 20 with training on Optimists, ILCA and 29er; weekly training on Wednesday and Friday; participation in regattas up to Swiss championships and international competitions; supported by Regionalbank Acrevis; Instagram @scmd_junioren.
