Segelclub Delphin Telfs
Segelclub Delphin Telfs is a sailing club founded on 20 May 1985, based in Telfs about 30 kilometres west of Innsbruck, with a club site on Lake Achensee featuring mooring buoys and shore berths. Members charter club boats such as Kielzugvogel, Sportina and Optimist, meet at the clubhouse in Griesgasse 7 and race in events including the Blue Ribbon of Lake Achensee. As a training centre recognised by ÖSV and MSVÖ, the club offers BFA inland, FB2 and FB3 courses as well as lectures, club evenings and cruises. With around 185 members and no joining fee, the association aims to make inland and coastal sailing accessible and affordable for everyone.
History
Segelclub Delphin Telfs was founded on 20 May 1985 by Günter Müller, Luis Nössing, Leopold Fürst, Günter Köfler and Reinhard Werner. The club is based in Telfs, some 30 kilometres west of Innsbruck. Since 2005 it has been a member of the Tyrolean Sailing Association (VTS) and the Austrian Sailing Federation. Recognised by ÖSV and MSVÖ as a training centre, it trains only club members and offers annual courses for BFA inland, FB2 and FB3. On Lake Achensee, on Tiroler Wasserkraft grounds, the club maintains buoys and shore berths; boats such as Kielzugvogel, Sportina and Melody can be chartered after an induction. In spring 2022 the site was expanded and the Delphin Lounge was built in more than 300 volunteer hours. Racing teams regularly compete in the Blue Ribbon, club and long-distance races with class and overall wins. In 2019, 7 members passed BFA inland, 9 FB2 and 10 FB3. At the 2020 AGM membership and charter fees were adjusted and Günther Parth received his honorary membership certificate. In March 2025 Bernie Rossi handed the chair to Hanna Haselwanter. Today the club has around 185 members and combines Achensee inland sailing with cruising, talks and Friday club evenings.
