Segelclub Steckborn

Segelclub Steckborn (SCS) is the official sailing club at Feldbach harbour in Steckborn on Lake Constance. Founded in 1968, the club has used Feldbach harbour as its home port since the harbour was built in 1980 and focuses on cruising as well as friendly regatta sailing. Facilities include shared use of the club room with Yacht Club Schaffhausen and participation in the Blue Anchor environmental label for careful stewardship of Lake Constance. Members foster camaraderie and junior development through monthly gatherings, Whitsun sailing days and the traditional Salami Regatta as the season highlight. Distinctive features include the annual shore clean-up along the Steckborn lakeside and close cooperation with Yacht Club Schaffhausen, Jugendsegeln Steckborn and the yacht clubs in Gaienhofen.

History

Segel Club Steckborn (SCS) was founded in 1968. When Feldbach harbour in Steckborn was built in 1980, it became the home port of SCS. The club brings together sailors mainly devoted to cruising, while also cultivating friendly regatta sailing. The most important event of the sailing season is the traditional Salami Regatta, usually held on the last Saturday of the summer school holidays. The club aims to nurture contacts and friendship among sailors, promote junior sailors and represent their interests towards politics and business. Further priorities are seamanship, respect for other water sports enthusiasts, sporting fairness and environmentally sound use of Lake Constance. Each winter the club therefore organises a shore clean-up to clear debris from the Lake Constance shoreline within the municipality of Steckborn. Friendly ties exist with Yacht Club Schaffhausen and Jugendsegeln Steckborn in the same harbour, and across the border with the yacht clubs in Gaienhofen. Feldbach harbour holds the Blue Anchor environmental label, committing the municipality and berth holders to careful treatment of the environment and the lake. In winter 2025/2026 the harbour basin was dredged so that boats could be relaunched from mid-March. At the 2025 general meeting in Frauenfeld, among other topics, the membership admission procedure was simplified and the new harbour regulations were discussed.
