Segelclub St. Georgen an der Gusen
Segelclub St. Georgen an der Gusen is a sailing club founded in 1988 in Upper Austria, with a clubroom on the market square and active sailing around Lake Attersee and Lake Mattsee. Its focus is youth work and training: several hundred sailing students have already been trained, complemented by club evenings, film talks and social events at the clubroom. The programme addresses children, teenagers and adults of all ages and includes sailing courses such as inland BFA, coastal certificates and radio as well as club regattas on Lake Attersee. The club is also known for the Zugvogel class regatta on Lake Mattsee and the Linz CUP.
History
Segelclub St. Georgen an der Gusen was founded in 1988 and established itself through youth work and training in Upper Austria and around Lake Attersee. Through many sailing activities membership grew; many swapped the crowded beach meadow for the experience of wind and waves. Sailing became accessible for children, teenagers, women and men of all ages including retirees, and as a family-friendly pastime. The clubroom with a maritime atmosphere on the market square in St. Georgen an der Gusen is the meeting point for talks, lectures and social events. In 2018 the club celebrated its 30th anniversary with a jubilee regatta. Regular events such as the season opening, summer and autumn regattas on Lake Attersee, Fun Regatta, Palmetshofer Nautic Regatta, the Zugvogel class regatta on Lake Mattsee and the Linz CUP continue to shape club life. Club championships and result lists document ongoing regatta activity.
