History

Following a boat christening on 26 June 1993 at the Rust campsite, participants resolved to found a sailing club, initially under the working name Camp-Segler-Bund-Rust. On 20 October 1993 the association authority issued a non-prohibition notice to the proponents' committee; the constitutive general meeting was held on 15 January 1994. Camp-Segelclub Rust (CSCR) aimed to promote sailing, mutual support, representation of members' interests, youth training, and exchange of experience. On 6 November 1999 the general meeting appointed Franz Pabisch honorary chairman for his services. Membership in the Burgenland regional sailing association and as a federation club of the Austrian Sailing Federation was granted. On 27 October 2001 the general meeting renamed the club Segelclub Rust (SCR). The clubhouse was inaugurated on 26 June 2004 as a sports and meeting centre. Gerhard Ettlinger was appointed honorary chairman on 25 October 2008 and Klaus Prtak on 22 October 2011. Members are ordinary, youth and honorary members. The club combines racing with cruising, awards the seasonal SCR Cup and hosts social events; membership stands at about 120. Guest and further berths are on the southern harbour pontoons. In season, members meet casually on the first Saturday of each month.
