History
Segelclub Preetz e.V. was founded on 28 May 1964. Since then the club looks back on more than 60 years of history and is known especially for its ambitious youth work, which has made it known beyond Schleswig-Holstein through successes at district, state and German championships. Members are based at the harbour on Lake Lanker See in Preetz in the Holstein Switzerland, where open water and narrow passages between many islands shape sailing both athletically and scenically. The harbour has two slipways and shelters around 60 dinghies at floating pontoons or on trailers ashore. After a fire the clubhouse was completely rebuilt as a modern facility. In winter 2023/24 members thoroughly renovated the floating pontoons after more than 55 years of service; the work amounted to about 1,300 working hours and used Siberian larch as timber. To this day the club regularly organises Optimist regattas such as the Preetzer Schusterjunge and the autumn regatta as well as the Raps Cup and holiday sailing for children and young people.
