Segel-Club Neumünster e.V.

Segel-Club Neumünster e.V. (SCN) is a traditional sailing club on Lake Einfeld in the north of Neumünster. The club grounds lie in a small bay on the south-eastern shore, south of the main bathing beach, with a clubhouse, mess, youth rooms, bridge piers, water and shore berths and its own crane. The youth section offers children and young people aged 6 to 21 group training in Optimist, ILCA, Europe and cutter, taster sailing, summer camps and the chance to earn sailing certificates. Regular club racing on Wednesday evenings, the Einfelder Opti Cup and community events such as the summer festival and end-of-season sail shape club life. Founded in 1933 as Segel-Sport-Neumünster and under its present name since 1946, the club is an established watersports club in the region with DSV registration SH 061.

History

Segel-Club Neumünster e.V. (SCN) was founded in 1933 originally under the name Segel-Sport-Neumünster. Since 1946 the club has borne its present name. It is registered with the German Sailing Federation under number SH 061. Detailed insight into the club’s history is provided by the chronicles of the 50th and 75th anniversaries, available for download on the website. The grounds lie on Lake Einfeld, named after Einfeld, today the northern district of Neumünster; the lake stretches about three kilometres north to the village of Mühbrook and is about 700 metres wide. SCN is situated in a small bay on the south-eastern shore, south of the main bathing beach and next to other watersports clubs. The clubhouse is built entirely over the water and includes a meeting hall, mess, youth rooms and changing rooms; sanitary facilities are in a building ashore. Linked to the clubhouse are bridges with water berths, a crane, numerous shore berths for dinghies and a winter storage hall in Einfeld. Youth development, Wednesday racing, the Einfelder Opti Cup and events such as the end-of-season sail and summer festival are central to club life. In March 2025 the long-serving honorary commodore Wolfgang Fehrs passed away.
