Segelclub Eckernförde e.V.
Segelclub Eckernförde e.V. (SCE) is a long-established sailing club on the northern shore of Eckernförde Bay, directly next to the naval harbour. The club operates its own marina with slipway, hand-operated crane, guest berths and free Wi-Fi throughout the harbour. The racing programme includes Wednesday races, the Eck-Days Folkboat spring regatta, the Aalregatta, the sea race to Hørup Hav, and junior events such as Eichhörnchen and the Squirrel-Cup. An active youth section with taster courses and Sportbootführerschein See training shape club life alongside the club magazine, club duty and year-round events.
History
Segelclub Eckernförde e.V. documents its club history in chronicles covering, among other periods, 1900–1922 and 2023–2025. Since 1968 the club has organised the Eckernförde spring regattas known as Eck-Days; originally with classes such as Dragon, H-Boat, 505, 420, Contender, 14-Footer and 49er, today as a pure Folkboat regatta with ranking status on Ascension weekend. In 2018 Eck-Days celebrated their 50th anniversary with strong participation and a Folkboat gathering. The annual sea race to Hørup Hav has been held more than 50 times and starts in the morning from the SCE harbour. The Aalregatta is sailed jointly with KYC as part of Kiel Week's Welcome Race and finishes in the SCE harbour with a harbour festival. In 2023 the International German Youth Championships in the ILCA classes were held in Eckernförde for the first time. The club sits on the north side of Eckernförde Bay next to the naval harbour and maintains harbour facilities, a slipway and an active racing and youth programme.
