Segelclub Tonne 1 e.V.
Segelclub Tonne 1 e.V. is a sailing club from Ilmenau in Thuringia that sails licence-free on Lake Heyda at the Heyda reservoir. The club grounds include a jetty with space for 16 boats up to 5.20 m in length as well as club boats including Ixylon and Conger, plus a solar boat and a bathing and sun pontoon. The programme ranges from family sailing and trial sessions to skipper and manoeuvre training and fun regattas for all ages. Founded on 23 November 2006 from the SKS seminar of Segelschule Weick, the club is a member of the Thuringia state sports federation, the Ilm-Kreis district sports federation and the German Sailing Federation and has 28 members.
History
Segelclub Tonne 1 e.V. originated from the SKS seminar in 2005/2006 at Segelschule Weick and the subsequent sailing activities in summer 2006. The idea of founding a club arose in October 2006 at the first Klabautermann regatta on Lake Heyda and was put into practice on 23 November 2006. The aim was and remains a broad range of activities from family sailing to competitive racing. After choosing a name, the club settled on Segelclub Tonne 1. It took on word sponsorship for the German word SEGELKLUB with the Association of the German Language and is a member of the Landessportbund Thüringen e.V., the Kreissportbund Ilm-Kreis e.V. and the Deutscher Segler Verband e.V. Since 13 March 2007 the club has owned an original pair of buoys from the Baltic Sea; on 16 April 2007 a stand was built for buoy MB1, and a day later a topmark was added. On 29 April 2007 the club opened the sailing season on Lake Heyda and inaugurated the first buoy in front of the Zur Talsperre restaurant. After construction work on the club grounds and the extension of the jetty, the second green buoy took its place on 2 May 2008 as a rigging and regatta mark. The jetty was later expanded to a total of 16 berths for boats up to 5.20 m and secured with concrete weights. On 14 August 2011 a family summer festival with the Geraberger Shantychor took place.
