Segel-Verein Steinhude-Niedersachsen e.V.
Segel-Verein Steinhude-Niedersachsen e.V. (SVSN) is one of the larger sailing clubs on Lake Steinhude and has been based since its founding in 1975 with its own club grounds in the Ferienpark Yachthafen marina on the southern shore. The club operates jetties S71 and S72 with 192 berths and a slipway and offers its own clubhouse with park grounds and a covered outdoor area. Youth development and racing are central: club-owned boats, Saturday youth training with DLRG support, and joint club regattas with neighbouring clubs. Memberships in the German Sailing Association (DSV), the Lower Saxony Sailing Association and the Lake Steinhude Racing Association underline its regional sailing ties. For the 50th anniversary in 2025 the club held special regattas and club events.
History
Segel-Verein Steinhude-Niedersachsen e.V. (SVSN) was founded in 1975 and has since been based with its own well-kept club grounds in the Ferienpark Yachthafen marina on the southern shore of Lake Steinhude. From the start the focus was sailing on Lake Steinhude, a sailing area of about 29 square kilometres. The club is a member of the German Sailing Association (DSV), the Lower Saxony Sailing Association, the Lake Steinhude Racing Association, the Lake Steinhude Emergency Association, the Association for the Preservation of Lake Steinhude and the Hanover City Sports Federation. Over the decades SVSN developed jetties S71 and S72 into a berthing facility for 192 boats including a slipway and built a clubhouse with park grounds and a covered outdoor area. Youth work with club boats, youth training and a youth week became a core part of club life. Together with neighbouring clubs SCLD and HSH, SVSN organises accessible club regattas and awards the SVSN sailing trophy. In the anniversary year 2025 the club celebrated its 50th anniversary with a jubilee regatta and donated the Alfred-W.-Becker challenge trophy. Today SVSN combines marina operations, clubhouse life, youth development and racing on Lake Steinhude.
