History

Segelclub Ratisbona e.V. (SCRR) was founded in 1979 and has since been based at Guggenberger See (locally called “Guggi”) in Neutraubling near Regensburg. The club grounds lie on the northeastern shore of the lake, directly next to the DLRG and Café Seeblick. Since its founding, the club’s facilities and offers have been steadily expanded. Today around 180 members belong to the club; they sail at Guggi, attend away sailing events and take part in organised cruising trips. The club is a member of the German Sailing Federation (DSV) and maintains a training team of coaches and instructors with at least DOSB coach qualifications. Youth development includes the youth sailing certificate for children and young people aged 8 to 14; courses usually start on Ascension Day and end on Whit Monday. In 2026 twelve children and young people successfully completed the training. In addition, the sailing part of the recreational boat licence (SBF) is offered. Club life is shaped by Sunday regattas, city championships, Optimist league races, theme evenings and social events such as the summer festival and Neutraubling citizens’ festival. In 2026 SCRR supported the German open-water swimming championships at Guggi with its grounds, clubhouse and motorboat escort.
