Segelclub Rietli Goldach
Segelclub Rietli Goldach (SCR) is the official website of a long-established sailing club on Lake Constance in Goldach, St. Gallen. The clubhouse sits directly at Hafen Rietli, run by the municipality of Goldach and certified with the Blue Anchor label of the IWGB. Besides the clubhouse, parking and nearby piers and harbour facilities, SCR offers junior training in Optimist, ILCA and 420 as well as racing and cruising for active members. Children from about seven, teenagers and adults find training, club events and competitions from midweek races to championships in the annual programme. Founded in 1944, the club has owned lakeside land with a clubhouse since the 1970s; the harbour was inaugurated in 1985.
History
Segelclub Rietli Goldach was founded on 15 August 1944 at Restaurant Rietli by young sailors; 14 future members attended. Since 1942, local youths at Rietli beach in Goldach had already experimented with self-built sailing paddle boats and canoe-rigs on Lake Constance. Pico Bischof describes wartime restrictions on the lake and the camaraderie of the first Rietli sailors, who hoisted a blue-white-green burgee. The first committee comprised Paul Bischof (president), Sepp Bischof (vice-president), Toni Bischof (secretary) and Hans Roderer (treasurer); entry fee and monthly dues were CHF 1.00 each. After an initial rejection by the Lake Constance sailing federation, admission to USY (today Swiss Sailing) opened the way into the international Lake Constance sailing association. The club grounds relate to parcel no. 159 in Goldach, bought in 1868 by Württemberg’s Queen Mother Pauline. In 1967 the Kellenberger family acquired the “Seepark”; in 1968 SCR leased the site and on 16 December 1970 purchased it for CHF 63,000. After shoreline landfill and land compensation in the early 1970s, the clubhouse was built in self-help from the groundbreaking on 13 November 1976; in 1977 members contributed 727 hours of labour, and the inauguration followed in 1978. On 28 June 1985 the municipal harbour with moles and dinghy slips was opened. SCR thus had its own land, clubhouse, slips, buoy berths and a safe harbour. In 2016 the boat shed (Remise) was erected; 2026 marks the clubhouse anniversary “50 years clubhouse”.
