Segelclub Pfäffikon Schwyz
Segelclub Pfäffikon Schwyz (SCPF) has been based for more than 60 years at the upper end of Lake Zurich, right on the shore opposite Ufenau Island. Founded in 1963, the club has around 100 active and passive members and has shared Clubhaus Frauenwinkel in the Pfäffikon SZ harbour complex with other associations since 1998. The clubhouse offers a seminar room, club lounge, outdoor area with barbecue, storage magazine and changing rooms. Racing and sailing sport are central, complemented by leisure sails, specialist lectures and relaxed gatherings ashore. The club organises among other events the Ascension Day regatta within the Zurich Lake Long-Distance Cup ZLC, the Ufenau Regatta, the Schindelifahrt and the weekly 7 o'Clock Training, and is a member of Swiss Sailing.
History
Segelclub Pfäffikon SCPF was founded in 1963. The first club president was Carl Emil Theiler, who led the club from 1963 to 1982. He was followed by Ernst Meier (1982–1988), Christian Hess (1988–1994), Jakob Röschli (1994–1998), Veronica Ettlin (1998–2010), Peter Baumann (2010–2012), Ferdinand Huser (2012–2016) and Markus Rüegg (2016–2023). Since March 2024, André Niessner, Dominik Noger, Anna Barbara Binz and Sergio Beti have served on the board. Since 1998 the club has shared Clubhaus Frauenwinkel in the Pfäffikon SZ harbour with the lake rescue service, the sport fishing club and the nature and bird protection association. In 2013 the club celebrated its 50th anniversary. Today it has around 100 active and passive members and belongs to the Swiss sailing federation Swiss Sailing. Regatta presidents and club champions since the 1960s document a long sporting tradition on Lake Zurich opposite Ufenau Island. Regular highlights include the Ascension Day regatta in the Zurich Lake Long-Distance Cup, the Ufenau Regatta and the Schindelifahrt.
