Segelclub Prien Chiemsee e.V.
Segelclub Prien Chiemsee e.V. (SCPC) is a sailing club on Lake Chiemsee in Prien with a performance centre for para sailing and a focus on inclusion, racing and cruising as well as grassroots sport, especially for young people. At Seestraße 127 the club offers a clubhouse with terrace; training and sailing take place among other classes on Optimist, Laser/ILCA, 2.4mR, Sonar, Kielzugvogel and RS Venture. The programme includes Saturday youth training, weekday school sailing courses during the season and an annual inclusive youth week with a basic sailing course and closing regatta. Since its founding in 1969 and its designation in 2008 as the Bavarian state performance centre for sailors with disabilities, the club has been a hub for inclusive sailing on Lake Chiemsee and regularly hosts events such as the SCPC summer regatta and the Prien City Cup.
History
Segelclub Prien e.V. Chiemsee (SCPC) was founded on 15 January 1969 as the International Yacht Club Garda (IYG) at the Hasenau inn in Munich-Schwabing; seven founding members and about 30 further active sailors enrolled. On 17 May 1969 the first spring regatta was held on Lake Chiemsee in front of the Stippel shipyard with ten Schratzen dinghies and one 20 sqm sailing cruiser. In August 1969 the German Sailing Federation recognised the club; it then had 82 members with berths on Chiemsee, Ammersee, Starnberger See, Kiel Fjord and Lake Garda. In 1972 the club seat was fixed in Prien am Chiemsee; membership rose to 104 and the club was noted for having the most DSV licence examiners. In 1973 the Leonhard Stippel memorial regatta was added; the club organised spring, Stippel (later summer), rally yachting and Wiesn regattas on Chiemsee and had 153 members. In 1974 the club was renamed Segelclub Prien e.V. Chiemsee (SCPC) so the municipality of Prien could support it; regatta entries rose markedly. In 1975 Miss Stippel provided a room in hall 1 of the yard that was converted into a clubhouse within two months; youth training with club Optimist dinghies began. In 1979 founding chairman Gernot Haug became honorary chairman; Dr Max Hofmann took the chair. In the 1980s youth work and club rooms were expanded, Klaus Ritzinger became the club’s first world champion in windsurfing, and in 1985 the first harbour festival was held at the Stippel yard. In 1994 the club celebrated its 25th anniversary with a match race and a ceremony in the large Kursaal. In 2000 the clubhouse was extended. In 2007 and 2008 the club brought high-level inclusive racing to the lake: the German international championship for crew boats, involvement in the Audi Chiemsee Champions Week with responsibility for the 2.4mR class, the first Prien City Cup for 2.4mR and a handicap section. In 2008 SCPC became the Bavarian state performance centre for sailors with disabilities. Today the club stands for para sailing, inclusion, youth development and racing on Lake Chiemsee and recently hosted the inclusive German international championship RS Venture Connect 2026.

Youth section
Active youth section with Saturday youth training on Optimist and Laser boats, school sailing courses on three weekdays during the season, taster sailing in the Prien holiday programme, an inclusive youth week in the summer holidays and a trip to Fraueninsel. Youth annual fee 100 Euro; one taster session is free, afterwards a training day including a light lunch costs 40 Euro.
