Segel-Club Stevertalsperre e.V.
Segel-Club Stevertalsperre e.V. (SCST) is the dinghy sailing club on Lake Haltern in North Rhine-Westphalia, between the Ruhr area and Münsterland. The club grounds are in Stadtmühlenbucht at Zu den Mühlen 50 in Haltern am See, with moorings, club premises and a clubroom; since 2013 an own training boat with an eco-friendly electric drive accompanies coaching. Classes sailed include Optimist, OK dinghy, Seggerling, ILCA 4/6/7, Europe, 420 and Korsar, plus training and club boats. Juniors and adults find regular training, Sportsegelschein and inland recreational boat licence courses, and home regattas such as Kehrein, Kehraus, club championship and the Stevertaler Varus Cup. Founded in 1973 and at the current site since 2019, SCST combines active club life with sustainable water protection and award-winning training.
History
Segel-Club Stevertalsperre e.V. (SCST) was founded in 1973 and specialised in competitive sailing of small dinghy classes such as Laser, Europe and OK dinghy; other classes are also raced regularly on Lake Haltern. Over the decades the club relocated several times and completed building phases until moving to today's Stadtmühlenbucht site in 2019. After leaving Seestern, final terrace acceptance coincided with the 50th club championship in 2024; three founding members attended and Mayor Andreas Stegemann conveyed congratulations. Since 2013 the club has had its own electric training boat; in 2026 a Barnegat 505 was converted into the new coach boat after the Terhi 450 “Zimtschnecke” had served for years. Traditional regattas shape the calendar: Kehrein as season opener, Kehraus as ranking event, club championship and summer regatta, plus the Stevertaler Varus Cup for Optimists. Since 2011 the club has regularly been recognised for outstanding training. In 2025 a safeguarding concept against interpersonal violence was created; in 2026 contact persons completed LSB NRW qualification toward the Qualitätsbündnis Sport NRW. The 2026 AGM confirmed the board without personnel changes, noted stable finances and identified low youth participation as a key challenge. Club boats sail antifouling-free; SCST is a member of the German Sailing Association (reg. no. NW 181).

Youth section
Youth section from age 6: Opti beginners every second Friday, from age 12 training on Thursdays; 8 training and 7 race Optimists; Sportsegelschein from age 14; regattas such as Stevertaler Varus Cup and away events (e.g. Black Swan Cup, Pinta Opti Cup).
