Segel-Club Schieder-Emmersee e.V.

Segel-Club Schieder-Emmersee e.V. (SCSE) is a sailing club on Lake Schiedersee in eastern North Rhine-Westphalia, based in Schieder-Schwalenberg. On the northern shore the club maintains a boathouse and shares a jetty with two other clubs; members may use club boats on Schiedersee free of charge, and two further boats lie at Mardorf on Lake Steinhude. The programme ranges from Optimist sailing and youth training to regattas, cruising and offshore trips as well as courses for the recreational craft licence and the coastal skipper certificate. Founded in 1980 and organised with around 200 sailors, SCSE is a member of the German Sailing Association and the NRW sports federation and shapes club life through training, a youth section and club cruises.

History

The club was founded on 5 September 1980 in Schieder-Schwalenberg (Siekholz) as „Segel Club Siekholz Emmersee e. V.“ and, upon entry in the register of associations, adopted the name Segel-Club Schieder-Emmersee e.V., short form SCSE. The club website also cites 6 September 1980 as the founding date. Its seat is Schieder-Schwalenberg; it is registered at the Lemgo local court under VR 50222 and holds DSV membership number NW 266. Today about 200 sailors are organised. SCSE is a member of the German Sailing Association, the NRW sports federation and the municipal sports association of Schieder-Schwalenberg. Home waters are Lake Schiedersee in the Lippe district: on the northern shore near the embankment dam stands the boathouse as the base for youth sailing and training; the fleet lies at a jetty shared with two other local clubs. In addition, two club boats lie at the jetty in Mardorf on Lake Steinhude, including the yacht „Carpe Diem“. Besides inland sailing, cruising in other areas, youth camps, regattas with neighbouring clubs on Schiedersee and club-crew trips enrich club life – including flotilla trips to East Jutland and Sardinia as well as maritime city trips. Training for the recreational craft licence (inland and sea) and the coastal skipper certificate in cooperation with VHS Lippe-Ost is a flagship activity: in the 2025 training season 59 candidates completed 115 individual exams with around 500 hours of voluntary work; Maik Reinert and the instructor team were honoured with the „Golden SCSE Windrose“. Heinz Diekmann and the Carpe Diem crew likewise received the award for renovation, berth care in Mardorf and a taster day. The statutes and contribution rules govern non-profit status, mandatory work hours and membership fees; the current statutes were adopted by the general meeting on 15 March 2024.
