Segelclub Elbmarsch e.V. operates a quiet natural harbour at the weir near Marschacht on the River Elbe in Lower Saxony. The club is located on the site of the former ferry from Marschacht to Geesthacht and offers floating pontoons with stern piles as well as 30 berths for boats up to ten metres in length. Guest berths are available on request; a club van serves as a meeting point and weather shelter. The Elbe in front of the weir and the Geesthacht lock allows sailing to Lauenburg with mast standing, water skiing and motorboating, as well as anchorages in the sheltered area. History
Segelclub Elbmarsch was founded in 1975. On the site of the former ferry from Marschacht in Lower Saxony to Geesthacht in Schleswig-Holstein, the present harbour was created through the extensive commitment of the members. The quiet natural harbour in the foreland of the dyke lies at river kilometre 583.3 and is the first harbour upstream after the Geesthacht lock on the Lower Saxony side. The Elbe in front of the weir and the Geesthacht lock offers many water sports options: sailing to Lauenburg with mast standing over about 15 kilometres, water skiing and motorboating in front of the weir, and fine anchorages in the sheltered area. The harbour has floating pontoons with stern piles and 30 berths; a club van serves as a meeting point and shelter in bad weather. Harbour festivals such as those in 2022 and 2023 are part of club life and bring members and guests together.
