Segel Club Cham
Segel Club Cham is a traditional Swiss sailing club on Lake Zug in Cham and a member of Swiss Sailing. The club has a clubhouse and its own jetties at Cham harbour as well as club boats for juniors and adults. Juniors train on Optimist, Laser and 420; the fleet also includes 29er, ILCA and a club J/70. Alongside regattas such as the Chomer Bär and the Lake Zug Cup, social events like Sail & Dine and boat christenings shape club life. Since its founding in 1947 from the Seglergilde Zugersee, the club has grown into an active sports club with around 250 members.
History
The origins of Segel Club Cham date back to autumn 1942, when fifteen Lake Zug sailors founded the Seglergilde Zugersee in Zug with its seat in Cham. In 1943 the guild split into local groups in Zug and Cham; on 22 March 1947 the independent Segel Club Cham was founded, while Yacht Club Zug was created in parallel. Willi Baumgartner (Krax) became the first president. In 1947 the club joined USY/SSV and members competed in Swiss championships with H dinghies. In 1950 the first jetty was built by members; 1955 brought expanded jetties and a changing hut, and in 1956 a buoy field was approved. The first junior group started in 1960. Louis Schiess qualified for the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome in the Finn and finished 26th. In 1979 the club newsletter later known as Flaschenpost first appeared. In 1981/82 Pit Müller sailed the Round the World Race on Disque d'Or 3. In 1996 Roger Fischer and Markus Bohren became European champions in the 505 class; in 1997 the club celebrated its 50th anniversary. Optimist teams won the team Swiss championship in 1998 and 2018. The Barriquecup has been held since 2002; a club J/70 has been available since 2020. Today the SCC has around 250 members, organises regattas on Lake Zug and actively supports youth sailing.

Junior training, racing (Lake Zug Cup, Chomer Bär, Barrique Cup, Swiss Sailing League), cruising, social events such as Sail & Dine, season opening and boat christenings, plus theoretical training in racing and seamanship.
Youth section
Active junior section with Friday evening training on Optimist and Laser during the sailing season and Monday winter hall training; support at Regio Cups and Youth Cups.
