Segel-Club Vierlande e.V.
Segel-Club Vierlande e.V. (SC4) is a Hamburg sailing club with two venues: Optimists and dinghies on Lake Oortkaten (Hohendeicher See) and yachts on the Upper Elbe in Oortkaten harbour. At the lake there is a clubhouse with changing rooms, showers and kitchen, two jetties, parking, a small beach and beach volleyball. On the Elbe about 60 berths with power and water, the clubhouse Hus in Luv, a workshop and a crane are available. The programme includes youth and Optimist training, a Laser dinghy group, Wednesday sailing, club boats such as Pirate, 420 and Zugvogel, and the major Optimist regattas Oortkaten Auftakt and Vierlanden Cup. Founded in 1969 in the Vierlande and Marschlande area, the club is a member of the Hamburg Sailing Association, the German Sailing Federation and the Hamburg Sports Federation.
History
Segel-Club Vierlande e.V. (SC4) was founded in 1969 and is based in Hamburg's Vierlande and Marschlande. The club runs two sections: the lake section for Optimists and dinghies on Hohendeicher See (Oortkatensee) and the Elbe section for keelboats and yachts in Oortkaten harbour on the Upper Elbe at river kilometre 607. Over the decades the club became a fixture of Hamburg sailing and hosts Oortkaten Auftakt and Vierlanden Cup, two of the region's largest Optimist regattas with regularly over 100 boats and up to a capacity of 140. On the Elbe the club's Pokalregatta is part of the Oberelbecup series with neighbouring clubs Yachtclub Bullenhausen, Bootsclub Oberelbe and Bootsclub Drage; together with YCB there is also weekly Wednesday sailing. In 2021 a new club website went live after Günter Weintraut had managed the web presence for many years. In 2022 the Elbe section received a new jetty of four concrete pontoons; at the lake the jetties are assembled and dismantled each year by members. Today the club has around 250 members, belongs to the Hamburg Sports Federation, the Hamburg Sailing Association and the German Sailing Federation, and promotes youth sailing with an active junior section, club boats and a full regatta programme.
