Segelclub Hallwil
Segelclub Hallwil is a grassroots sailing club based in Beinwil am See on Lake Hallwil in Switzerland. The club has a well-situated clubhouse with changing rooms, kitchen and lounge areas, as well as a crane, ramps, support boats and dry storage for racing. Classes sailed include Optimist, 420, ILCA, Star, 505 and Yngling; the fleets organise their own regattas and events. Junior coaches introduce children and young people aged 8 to 18 to sailing, with training on Wednesdays and Fridays plus sailing weekends and summer camps. The club represents around 600 members in associations and before the authorities, takes part in the Swiss Sailing League, and maintains its facilities through unpaid work by active members.
History
Segelclub Hallwil (SCH) is based in Beinwil am See and promotes sailing on Lake Hallwil through sporting and social events and the required infrastructure. In 2025 the club celebrated its 65th anniversary, including a special edition of the club championship. SCH represents its around 600 members in associations and organisations as well as towards the public and authorities, and adheres to the ethics statute of Swiss sport. Club life is largely carried by the fleets: cruiser fleet, single-handed dinghies, Fireball, Corsaire, Star, Tempest, Yngling and 505. Each fleet elects a fleet captain and plans its own regattas and events. The club is part of the Swiss Sailing League, which has existed since 2015. The SCH team sails in the Challenge League (2nd division) and contests four regattas per year. At the end of 2024 the team secured its place in the Challenge League. Racing and junior training shape club life from spring to autumn; in the winter half-year, 7 o'clock regattas are held in eSailing format. Infrastructure including crane, ramps, support boats and dry storage is maintained by active members themselves without pay.
