Segelclub Niederrhein e.V.
Segelclub Niederrhein e.V. (SCN) is a sailing club on Diersfordter Waldsee in a nature reserve near Wesel-Bislich on the Lower Rhine. Members use the jetty, land and water berths, the new log cabin clubhouse and a club fleet from Optimist and ILCA to Yngling, Kielzugvogel and Polyvalk. Priorities include free youth training on Sundays, regatta practice, cruising and courses for the pleasure craft licence. Since its founding in 2024 the club has grown with affordable fees, community events and regattas such as the Holemans Cup.
History
Segelclub Niederrhein e.V. was founded in 2024; the founding protocol is dated 10 April 2024 and registration is with the Duisburg district court under VR 6487. In its founding year the SCN already hosted the Holemans Cup on Diersfordter Waldsee and established itself as organiser of yardstick regattas with rankings for Yngling and Kielzugvogel. In 2025 construction began on an approximately 200 m² log cabin clubhouse; by October the floor slab was finished and interior work followed. That year also brought the electric safety boat Sternchen, a club van, regular youth camps and participation in the 24-hour race of Medemblik. On 20 June 2026 the log cabin at the lake was inaugurated when Michael Hüging-Holemans handed the key to the SCN. Today the non-profit club offers training, regattas, cruising and an active club life on the popular Diersfordter Waldsee sailing ground.
