SVR – Zweigverein Segeln
Sportverein Reutte – Sailing Branch is the sailing section of SV Reutte on Lake Plansee in Tyrol and operates land berths for dinghies and catamarans as well as water berths for yachts up to a maximum length of 8 metres during the summer season. The Plansee sailing area offers ideal conditions for racing and cruising sailors thanks to constant thermal winds amid the Tyrolean mountains. The club has a clubhouse, a marina with a modernised pontoon system, a dinghy area and seven youth boats of various classes. The programme includes annual youth training camps in July, club championships, pursuit regattas with summer night festivals, season-opening events, work parties and in-house A-licence training. Since its founding in 1970, the sailing branch has developed into an active sailing community with a strong youth section that has also achieved success at Special Olympics regattas.
History
The sailing branch of Sportverein Reutte was founded in 1970 and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020 with a pursuit regatta and a major jubilee celebration. Walter Nickmann was the first chairman from 1970 to 1971, followed by Alfred Jäger (1971–1974 and 1977–1984), Hans Heinrich (1974–1977), Helmut Jahn (1984–2002), Alexander Wasle (2002–2010 and from 2020), Oskar Ginther (2010–2016) and Norbert Lexl (2016–2020). For many years the club has trained its youngest members on Lake Plansee; the annual youth training camps between July and August are regularly fully booked. From this youth programme emerged athletes such as Dominik and Patrick Huber, who won podium places at Special Olympics sailing regattas on Lake Constance and in Berlin in 2022 and qualified for the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2023 in Berlin. In spring 2023 the dilapidated yacht pontoon system in the marina was dismantled and replaced by a newly planned installation that was largely completed by May 2023. The club organises annual club championships, pursuit regattas with summer night festivals, season-opening events, work parties at the club grounds and, since 2025, the Special Olympics Plansee Inclusion Cup. According to the 2025 annual general meeting, berths on land and on the water are fully occupied. Honorary chairmen and honorary members of the sailing branch include Alfred Jäger, Helmut Jahn (deceased 2019), Alexander Wasle, Oskar Ginther and Jürgen Koch.
