Segler-Verein Purren Konstanz e.V.
Segler-Verein Purren Konstanz e.V. (SVPK) is a Lake Constance sailing club based at the club grounds next to the Litzelstetten outdoor pool in Konstanz. Founded in 1973, the club promotes water sports with a particular focus on environmental protection and operates a mooring field off Konstanz-Litzelstetten jointly managed with YLM, as well as a share in 13 berths at the Staad marina. The club grounds host sporting events, youth training and a weekly sailors' get-together during the season. Children from the age of nine can learn to sail on Mondays in two groups – from basic skills to spinnaker and trapeze sailing. Club life includes opening and closing of the season, outings, an annual club regatta, summer festival and further joint events throughout the sailing season.
History
At the founding meeting on 29 September 1973 in Litzelstetten, 35 founding members joined together to form Segler-Verein Purren Konstanz e.V. (SVPK), with the aim of promoting water sports with particular regard for environmental protection. The club was able to establish itself on the property of the former Lake Constance fisherman Franz Warnadin, next to the Litzelstetten outdoor pool. Sporting events and youth training take place on these grounds. In 1981, the mooring field off Litzelstetten was approved. Despite lengthy negotiations, a planned jetty could not be built. When Stadtwerke Konstanz released the old ferry basin in Konstanz-Staad for the construction of a sports boat harbour, the club had the opportunity to participate in the expansion of the marina. SVPK holds a share in 13 berths in the new harbour and can make some of them temporarily available to club members. The mooring field is managed jointly by SVPK and YLM. Club life is shaped by numerous events: the year begins with the annual general meeting in spring, followed by maintenance of the grounds, laying out the moorings and transporting youth boats from winter storage. The sailing season opens with the season-opening event. In summer, outings and a club regatta are held, usually leading directly into the annual club festival on the grounds. After the season closing and clearing of the grounds, a hike and joint year-end celebration are organised in autumn. The club currently has 131 members (as of January 2024).
