Segelverein Neubrandenburg e.V.
Segelverein Neubrandenburg e.V. is a traditional sailing club on the northern shore of Lake Tollensesee just outside Neubrandenburg, located directly next to the Badehaus. With around 110 members, including more than 20 children and young people, the club offers moorings, jointly maintained grounds and facilities, and a lively club life on and by the water. Youth work includes training groups in Optimist, ILCA and 420er with summer training on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Regular regattas such as the spring and autumn regatta and the Blaues Band shape the sporting programme. Since its beginnings on Lake Tollensesee in the 1920s and continuing the traditions of SV Aufbau and LOK since 2004, the club has been a fixture of the local watersports scene.
History
The first watersports enthusiasts in Neubrandenburg – sailors, anglers and canoeists – already sought a suitable location for shared club life in 1922/23 and chose a base on the northern shore of Lake Tollensesee close to the city. Until 1933 members met regularly and held sporting contests on the water. During wartime, watersports ceased; many boats and the thatched boathouse were burned for fuel when wood was scarce. In 1949 BSG Lokomotive Neubrandenburg was founded with a sailing section that rebuilt the northern-shore site and actively developed children's and youth sport. Since 1 January 2004 Segelverein Neubrandenburg e.V. has continued the long traditions of the former sports clubs SV Aufbau and LOK Neubrandenburg. The statutes took effect on 28 March 2015; berth and house rules have applied since 1 May 2021. Today the club remains on the Tollensesee grounds, the heart of the recreation landscape around Neubrandenburg, and regularly organises sailing regattas as highlights of inland watersports. With around 110 members and active youth work in Optimist, ILCA and 420er, the club remains a lively hub for leisure and racing.
