Seglervereinigung Kreuzlingen

Seglervereinigung Kreuzlingen (SVK) is a sailing club on Lake Constance with around 200 members, based at the Kreuzlingen Seegarten sports boat harbour. Founded in 1984 with the new harbour, it promotes sailing for leisure and competitive challenge. Facilities include a clubhouse with barbecue lawn at the harbour, the club boat enJoy SVK (J/70), trial sailing and organisation of local to international regattas. Juniors learn and train in the shared junior pool with YCK and SVB; adults and families join club events, midweek races and cruising. A highlight for years was the successful Swiss Sailing League team with several Swiss championship titles.

History

Seglervereinigung Kreuzlingen was founded in 1984 with the creation of the new sports boat harbour in Kreuzlingen. Founding members helped ensure the town received a harbour worthy of the city. Goals include promoting sailing, an active club life for all ages and organising local, national and international regattas on Lake Constance. Youth work ranks highly: together with YCK and SVB the Junior Sailing Pool Region Kreuzlingen was founded and has supported juniors with training boats and coaches for over 30 years. In 2017 the club acquired its own club boat enJoy SVK (J/70) for Swiss Sailing League training, juniors, midweek races and Lake Constance battles, and for member hire after instruction. From 2016 the race team competed in the Swiss Sailing League, was promoted from the Challenge League in 2016 and sailed in the Super League from 2017. It became Swiss champion in 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2023; in 2020 it took 3rd and in 2021 2nd place in the Sailing Champions League final. At the end of 2024 the team disbanded after eight successful years. Juniors also achieved success in 29er and 49er classes including world and European championship places. The club follows the IWGB Blue Anchor environmental programme and modernised facilities such as the clubhouse terrace and kitchen.
