Segler-Vereinigung Bottighofen
The Segler-Vereinigung Bottighofen is the official sailing association at the Lake Constance harbour in Bottighofen in the canton of Thurgau. Founded in 1957, the club welcomes sailors and motorboat owners and offers joint outings, nautical and racing-related training, regattas and cruising. At Am Hafenplatz the clubhouse and harbour infrastructure are available; a few club berths are allocated annually to active members, complemented by the mark-laying motorboat BIBER for race duties. Junior development runs through the Junior Sailing Pool Region Kreuzlingen together with Seglervereinigung Kreuzlingen and Yacht-Club Kreuzlingen, with coaches holding J+S qualifications. The club regularly organises and supports Lake Constance regattas, including the Fastwood Regatta and race course BRAVO at the International Lake Constance Week.
History
The Segler-Vereinigung Bottighofen was founded in 1957. Traditionally the association's name refers to "sailors"; due to changing times, motorboat owners are also part of the membership and are welcome. A diverse programme characterises the club: joint outings, training in nautical and racing skills, regattas, cruising and junior development. In winter, members also meet for non-watersport events and cultivate seamanship in sociable gatherings. The membership ranges from cruising sailors and motorboat drivers to racing sailors and juniors who train in the Junior Sailing Pool Region Kreuzlingen; supporting clubs are Segler-Vereinigung Bottighofen, Seglervereinigung Kreuzlingen and Yacht-Club Kreuzlingen. The SVB has few berths allocated for one year to active members; those interested can join the internal waiting list. The clubhouse serves as a meeting point and, during regattas, as the operations and organisation centre; the motorboat BIBER is the club's mark-laying boat used to set course marks. In recent club history, the SVB together with the Junior Sailing Pool Kreuzlingen organised the 2024 Swiss Optimist points and Lake Constance championship with over 120 Optimists in Kreuzlingen harbour. In 2024 the 66th general meeting took place at the Seemuseum Kreuzlingen. At the International Lake Constance Week the SVB regularly manages course BRAVO and provides race management with Volker Pampus; the Fastwood Regatta for the 6mR class is another fixed racing highlight of the association.
