Seglervereinigung 1903 Berlin e.V. (SV03) is a long-established sailing club on the south-eastern shore of the Klare Lanke between Schwanenwerder island and the Große Fenster, right near Wannsee lido. As Berlin's only sailing club, it offers members berths in the harbour and in a mooring field, plus a clubhouse with restaurant, sanitary facilities on the lower floor, and technical equipment including a tower crane, slipway and mast crane. More than 400 members, including over 70 juniors, sail classes such as Optimist, Finn-Dinghy, J/70, H-Boot, Folkeboot and Korsar; the programme includes weekly youth training, regattas, training camps and the German Sailing League. The sailing area extends from the Scharfe Lanke and Stößensee across Großer Wannsee to Glienicke Bridge, Pfaueninsel, Jungfernsee and Krampnitzsee. Founded on 4 March 1903 at Restaurant Schloß Wannsee, SV03 promotes sailing in a friendly club atmosphere.
History
On 4 March 1903 the Deutsche Yacht-Club was founded at Restaurant Schloß Wannsee, with Arthur Kaleskey as first chairman. Two years later the club joined the German Sailing Association under the name Seglervereinigung 1903 Berlin e.V.; Arthur Otto became first chairman and held office until 1915. Membership has grown to over 400, including more than 70 juniors. The club grounds lie on the south-eastern shore of the Klare Lanke between Schwanenwerder and the Große Fenster. As Berlin's only sailing club, members can use harbour berths and mooring-field places. The sailing area starts in the north at Spandau on the Scharfe Lanke or east thereof on the small Stößensee, extends south of Schwanenwerder into Großer Wannsee, and reaches south-west past Pfaueninsel and Sacrow Church of the Saviour to Glienicke Bridge; from there it continues north-west into Jungfernsee and Krampnitzsee. The club runs its own regattas such as Havel Cup, Sparr Prize, Brandt Prize, Wannsee Trophy, Null-Drei Cup and Bären Cup and competes in the German Sailing League. The youth section offers an entry into sailing with Optimist training, regattas and holiday camps; the club is applying for the Berlin sports federation child-protection seal.
