Studentische Seglergemeinschaft Tübingen e.V.
The Studentische Seglergemeinschaft Tübingen e.V. (StSG) is the largest watersports club in the region and home harbour for Tübingen sailors. Together with the independent Studentische Seglergemeinschaft Stuttgart e.V., the club provides four club yachts and more than 20 dinghies on Lake Constance. Children and young people learn to sail throughout the summer every week at the Kirchentellinsfurt quarry lake, including on Optimists and 420s. In the winter half-year, StSG trains for all German sailing and powerboat licences and organises the official examinations; courses are open without club membership. Regattas with many participants and the close twin-club link with Stuttgart shape club life.
History
Studentische Seglergemeinschaft Tübingen e.V. presents itself as the home harbour of Tübingen sailors and the largest watersports community in the region. Together with Studentische Seglergemeinschaft Stuttgart e.V. it forms a twin pair of two independent clubs that share their fleet and offers on Lake Constance: four club yachts and more than 20 dinghies are available to the combined membership of more than 800. Children's and youth sailing takes place all summer at Kirchentellinsfurt quarry lake, jointly with Seglergemeinschaft Kirchentellinsfurt, which keeps an Optimist fleet and 420s for older juniors there. In summer there are also leisure camps on Lake Constance and cruises with the youth yacht of the Baden-Württemberg state sailing association. Some of today's active members joined StSG because their children enjoyed sailing at the quarry lake. In the winter half-year the focus is on training for all required watersports licences; practical offerings range from Lake Constance and the Neckar in Stuttgart to SKS training and examination cruises in the Adriatic.
