Real Club Náutico Portosín
Real Club Náutico Portosín is a sailing and yacht club on the Atlantic coast of Galicia in northwest Spain, in the Muros and Noia estuary between Cape Finisterre and Cape Corrubedo. As the closest marina to Santiago de Compostela (about 40 km), the club operates a marina with 210 berths on four finger pontoons and a certified sailing school. It offers junior and adult sailing, race training in Optimist and ILCA, courses for 420 and cruising yachts, plus recreational boat licence training (P.E.R.). The club organises regional and national regattas, promotes fishing, diving and rowing, and welcomes visiting sailors with 52 transit berths.
History
Real Club Náutico Portosín grew from the founding members’ passion for the sea and for promoting watersports, especially sailing, on Galicia’s Atlantic coast in the privileged Muros–Noia estuary. The club’s sailing school evolved over the years from a founders’ initiative into a professional school recognised and certified by the Real Federación Española de Vela and the Federación Galega de Vela. Today the club is the nearest marina to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Santiago de Compostela and is regarded as that city’s port. The marina in Portosín’s fishing harbour has been continually developed with modern pontoons, a travel-lift and extensive services. The club maintains a strong regatta tradition with events such as the Regata Ramiro Carregal Rey – Gran Trofeo Faro de Corrubedo, the Regata Verano and the Ruta Rías Baixas, and competes in Galician and Spanish Optimist and ILCA championships. Environmental commitment is reflected in repeated Blue Flag awards; in 2026 the club renewed this distinction for the 35th time. Parallel growth included fishing, diving, rowing and social and cultural activities. The current board was presented in 2026 and continues under President Jorge Arán Echabe.
