History

Real Club Náutico de Barcelona looks back on more than 140 years and is a central reference for Mediterranean sailing. As a founding member of the Comité Internacional del Mediterráneo (CIM), the Asociación Española de Clubes Náuticos (AECN) and Sport Cultura Barcelona, it is closely linked to national and international federations, including the Real Federación Española de Vela, the Federación Catalana de Vela and the Real Asociación Nacional de Cruceros. Awards mark its sporting tradition: best Catalan sports entity by Mundo Deportivo in 1997, the Ancla de oro of the Spanish Sailing Federation in 1998, the Placa de Oro of the Real Orden del Mérito Deportivo in 1999 and Barcelona City’s gold merit medal in 2003, plus multiple Vela d’Or awards from the Catalan Sailing Federation. Today the club organises international regattas such as Menorca–St. Joan, Trofeo Conde de Godó, Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona and Copa del Rey de Barcos de Época, and develops sailors through its sailing school. Its waterfront location at Moll Espanya, correspondences with clubs in Europe, America and Asia, and a commitment to sustainability and marine biodiversity shape the club’s modern profile.
