Real Club Náutico de Sanlúcar de Barrameda

Real Club Náutico de Sanlúcar de Barrameda is a traditional sailing club at the mouth of the Guadalquivir River where it meets the Atlantic Ocean in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, province of Cádiz. The club offers berths for more than 250 boats with boatman service and 24-hour surveillance, a sailing school recognised by the Real Federación de Vela Andalucía, and club facilities including a viewing terrace, garden, barbecue area, social lounge and course rooms. The programme includes sailing courses for children, juniors and adults, regular regattas in classes such as Optimist and ILCA, and social events for members and guests. Since its founding on 16 July 1969, the club has become one of the leading nautical institutions at the Guadalquivir estuary and links sailing sport with the city's maritime tradition.

History

Real Club Náutico de Sanlúcar de Barrameda was founded on 16 July 1969. The founding meeting took place at the Escuela Filial del Instituto Social de Marina on Calle Ruiz de Somavía; 41 people laid the foundations with the required permits. From that meeting came the first governing board chaired by D. Juan José Marmolejo, which shaped the society until the official approval of the statutes on 5 October 1970. At that general assembly D. Antonio Barbadillo Romero was elected president, marking a phase of growth and consolidation. From the outset the club defined itself as a nautical entity focused on sailing and sea-related activities. Over the years it built a broad programme of regattas, sailing courses, social gatherings and cultural events. The club remains closely tied to Sanlúcar de Barrameda, promoting not only water sports but also the city's social, tourist and cultural value. In 2025 the club received the “Puerto de Sevilla” award from the Port Authority of Seville at Bodegas Barbadillo for fostering nautical sports and a sustainable relationship with the Guadalquivir. Today the club has around 800 members and more than 250 berths in its strategic location between river and Atlantic.
