Around 80 members maintain an active club life with youth training, regattas such as the summer regatta, Blaues Band and autumn regatta, as well as festivals and club trips. Since its register entry on 11 June 1922 and its centenary in 2022, the RWS has been a fixture of sailing in Rathenow and on Lake Hohennauener See.
History
Rathenower Wassersportverein Segeln 1922 e.V. has been entered in the court register since 11 June 1922. After the First World War, people in Rathenow came together to spend their free time in water sports as a community. By 1933 a combined boat and club house had been built. Today much of club life takes place on the grounds in Semlin on Lake Hohennauener See; members are also based in Rathenow by the water sports area. In 2022 the club celebrated its 100th anniversary with the season opening sail, summer festival, founding celebration and midsummer solstice. In 2023 the new water sports boat house construction was documented. Today around 80 sports friends belong to the club. Besides sailing, Easter fires, summer festivals, club trips, work parties and regattas such as the summer regatta, Opti-Oldie, autumn regatta and Blaues Band shape club life. The youth section trains in Optimist, Laser and 420 and practices on Fridays from 16:00 in Semlin during the season.
