Plauer Hai-Live e.V.

Plauer Hai-Live e.V. is an inclusive sailing club on Lake Plau in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern that describes itself as a somewhat different sailing club and enables people with and without disabilities to enjoy sailing. The club is hosted at the Marina and Sailing School Plau am See on Seestraße and operates twelve club-owned 2.4mR boats that cannot capsize or sink. A core element is rehabilitation sailing in cooperation with the Mediclin rehabilitation clinic from May to September, complemented by regatta training on Fridays and the annual Nevellüücht regatta. Since its founding in 2006 with one boat and ten members, the club has grown to around one hundred members and ranks first nationwide among clubs with the most 2.4mR sailors.

History

Plauer Hai-Live e.V. was founded in 2006 on the initiative of Peter Schumann, then senior physician at the nearby rehabilitation clinic in Plau am See. It started with one boat and around ten members. The club now owns twelve 2.4mR boats and has around one hundred members. Rehabilitation sailing is a central activity: from May to September, patients of the Mediclin rehabilitation clinic in Plau am See can sail twice a week and enjoy the club's hospitality with coffee, cake and conversation. A regatta team trains regularly and competes in national and international regattas. Plauer Hai-Live has hosted the Nevellüücht regatta on Lake Plau on the first October weekend for many years. In the notional ranking of clubs with the most sailors in the 2.4mR class, Plauer Hai-Live e.V. holds first place nationwide. Claudio Krinke was committed for many years as captain, technical officer and supporter of the club, working with Ingeburg to ensure that people with disabilities can discover sailing at any time. The club is financed through moderate membership fees and donations and is recognized as a non-profit association by the tax office.
