Segelclub Pilsensee e.V.

Segelclub Pilsensee e.V. (SCP) is the only sailing club on Lake Pilsensee near Seefeld, welcoming both competitive racers and relaxed cruising sailors. The club grounds cover around 3,000 square metres on the eastern shore and include a pontoon, crane, beer garden, mast shed and weather station. Youth sailors use Optimists, Lasers, Open Skiffs, RS Fevas and other club boats; adult members sail classes including Kielzugvogel, Ixylon and Fam. The club traditionally hosts the Optinale at Pentecost, the Kielzugvogel Oktoberfest Regatta, club regattas, the Opti-ILCA League and the FAM Cup. Volunteer coaches run monthly youth training, a three-day sailing camp and sport boat licence courses for members.

History

Segelclub Pilsensee e.V. was founded on 22 June 1969 as an interest group of sailors on Lake Pilsensee; six days later 27 members had already joined. In early 1970 the Rentamt Graf zu Toerring granted about 1,300 square metres of lakeside land free of charge for the first three years. The founding meeting on 18 July 1970 elected Dr Zirwas as first chairman, Paul Okon as second chairman, Roderich Buksch as treasurer and Gretl Okon as secretary, with board members Heinz Böckmann, Josef Henkelmann and Herman Keisinger. Josef Knapp and Max Trollmann from that era are still members today. The first fixed pontoon was built, the first yardstick club regatta took place on 15 May 1971 and the first successful A-licence exams followed in spring 1972. In 1973 the area of today's club hut (then Widmann Hut) was leased, a cruiser division founded and the grounds expanded. In 1974 the SCP had 82 members and the cruiser division 160; a youth section was established. On 13 April 1974 the first official DSV regatta for FD, Finn, Korsar and 470 was held. In 1975 there were 60 berths (38 ashore, 22 afloat); on 28 March 1975 the SCP ran Germany's first official windsurfing regatta. The first Optinale was held on 20 September 1975, then called Pilsensee Opti and created by Julie Kroll (Group A: 18, Group B: 32 entrants). The crane was built in 1976; the 1976 Easter regatta counted 59 Ten-Cate surfers, 15 Windgliders, 3 Spiders plus FD, Finn and 470. The 1976 Pilsensee Opti had 87 entrants; Herr Wabst took over Opti coaching in 1978. The first Kielzugvogel regatta followed in 1979, the swimming pontoon was built in 1980 by Hans Greisinger; the 1980 Optinale had 100 and 29 sailors in groups A and B. The club hut was renovated in 1990 and storm Wiebke felled two 35-metre fir trees. The beer garden was created in 1993, construction of the mast hut with sanitary facilities began in 1998 and more land was leased. A new committee boat arrived in 2004, the pontoon was renewed in 2005, Baumann's Beach (BB) was built in 2006 and the pontoon was electrified in 2009. The SCP is a member of the German Sailing Association and the Bavarian State Sports Association, registered with Munich District Court (VR no. 6344) and recognised as a non-profit organisation by the Munich tax office.
