History
Kamp-Lintforter Segelclub e. V. was founded in 1979 and has been practising dinghy sailing on Rossenrayer See in Kamp-Lintfort for more than 40 years. The club is a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Sailing Association and the German Sailing Association and holds DSV number NW 246. It is registered with the Kleve district court under number 21222. The club waters are Rossenrayer See; the grounds are located on Nimmendohrstraße near the Kamp-Lintfort motorway junction. Over the decades, the KLSC has developed into an active dinghy sailing club offering taster courses, weekly training groups supervised by a trainer and courses for various sailing certificates. A firm tradition is the annual Father's Day regatta specifically for regatta newcomers, in which other clubs such as Segelsportklub Uerdingen, Wassersportgemeinschaft Geldern and Seglergemeinschaft Loheider See also take part. In mid-January 2019 the KLSC held its first winter regatta, nicknamed the 'ice-bum regatta' by sailors; four adult club members sailed in Optimist dinghies. A club weekend at Lake Sorpe takes place regularly in September. The club also organises joint day trips, for example to Roermond for sailing with Valk boats, as well as events such as SUP, Sail, Grill & Chill at the lake on Tuesdays. Despite the intensive voluntary commitment of its members, the non-profit sports club bears considerable costs for lease, equipment, instructor fees and insurance.
