Segelverein Kenterklub Siethen e.V.
Segelverein Kenterklub Siethen e.V. is an active sailing club on Lake Siethen in Ludwigsfelde OT Siethen and a member of the German Sailing Federation. The roughly 2,500 m² club grounds include a clubhouse with kitchen and fireplace, a boat hall, changing and spar rooms, and a harbour dredged anew in 2016 with water berths. From the pavilion, terrace and pier you can watch training and regattas on the lake. Optimist, Cadet, Ixylon and Pirate are sailed actively; Tuesday offers taster sessions and sailing training from Easter to October. The club competes nationally and internationally and hosts its own club regattas such as the Whitsun Regatta, Siethener Seepokal and Autumn Regatta.
History
Segelverein Kenterklub Siethen e.V. is based on Lake Siethen in Ludwigsfelde OT Siethen and is registered at the Potsdam local court under number VR 4534. The club is a member of the German Sailing Federation and takes part in national and international competitions. On the roughly 2,500 m² grounds, facilities such as a clubhouse with kitchen and fireplace, boat hall, and changing and spar rooms with showers and toilets were established. In spring 2016 the harbour was newly dredged, providing additional water berths. Pavilion, terrace and pier overlook the lake and allow spectators to follow training and racing. The fleet includes club-owned Optimists, Cadets and an Ixylon; Pirate sailors are also active. Regular club regattas such as season opening, Whitsun Regatta, Siethener Seepokal and Autumn Regatta, as well as public events like the Walpurgis fire and the St Nicholas walk, shape club life. Juniors also compete in away youth regattas and training camps. In winter the club uses the swimming hall at Kristalltherme Ludwigsfelde and a gym for fitness work.
