King Yachting Club

The King Yachting Club (KYC) is an Austrian yachting and sailing club with its registered address in Guntramsdorf near Mödling and ZVR number 334474974. The club promotes recreational boating and yacht sport through exchange of experience, further education and the organisation of sailing trips and events; the racing section is a member of the Austrian Sailing Federation (ÖSV), while the club itself belongs to the Motorboat and Seafaring Association for Austria (MSVÖ). Offerings include monthly club evenings at Gasthaus Juhasz in Mödling, midweek regattas on the Alte Donau, sea cruises, inland boating, safety training and courses for the International Certificate and A inland sailing licence. Members can take part in regattas, borrow equipment for free for trips and join shared travel. The name comes from the sailing vessel KING in the Aegean in 1993; the community meets as a circle of friends for exchange and for sporting and social events.

History

The name of the King Yachting Club comes from the sailing vessel KING in the Aegean in 1993. A historic photograph of the participants at the time was taken on the island of Nissiros; those shown are Friedrich Schinko, Gerald and Reinhard Urban, Peter Goldmann and Andy Nagl, photographed by Harald Melwisch. The club holds ZVR number 334474974 and is a member of the Motorboat and Seafaring Association for Austria (MSVÖ); the racing section is a member of the Austrian Sailing Federation (ÖSV). Its aims are exchange of experience on recreational boating and yacht sport, training and education, organising sailing trips and events, and information sharing at monthly club evenings. Activities include club evenings, education and training, racing, sea cruises, inland boating and social gatherings. The racing section promotes sporting sailing in theory and practice, building knowledge of strategy, tactics, technique and boat handling for national and international inshore and offshore regattas, as well as safety training. The club among other things runs midweek regattas on the Alte Donau and on 2 August 2025 held a Zugvogel regatta together with the Neusiedl am See sailing school.
