Ingelheimer Segelclub e.V.
Ingelheimer Segelclub e.V. is a non-profit, mobile youth sailing club in Rheinhessen with its sailing area in the Königsklinger Aue in Heidenfahrt on the Rhine. Children and young people are the focus: sailing is taught in a fun, pressure-free way, complemented by swimming courses at the Rheinwelle pool, first aid, lifesaving training and official sailing certificates. From May to October the club mainly sails Optimists and 420s, regularly competes in regattas and offers camps, summer programmes and holiday activities. In winter, a varied land-based programme with model boat building and online theory keeps training going. Emerging from Segelclub Eich e.V. Revier Ingelheim, the club funds numerous youth training courses and continues to welcome new members in its courses.
History
Ingelheimer Segelclub e.V. grew out of Segelclub Eich e.V. Revier Ingelheim. On 13 June 2013 a cooperation agreement was signed between Segelclub Eich e.V. and Segelclub Eich e.V. Revier Ingelheim. The SCE board agreed with Gabriele Schäfer that everyone registered via Revier Ingelheim would be SCE members and pay annual fees to the SCE. Gabriele Schäfer, as a full member, took patronage of all children at the branch so they paid an annual fee of 42 euros; the special adult fee was 50 euros. She led the Ingelheim branch independently. The branch address was Erzbergerstr. 28, 55218 Ingelheim, with its own club account and self-financing. Six Optimists, three 420s, a Koralle, a Seahopper, a Sailhorse, two windsurf boards and three dinghies with trailers were stored in Gabriele Schäfer's barn. A workshop for children was set up in the Erzbergerstraße building; theoretical sailing instruction was also delivered via Skype. Sailing is now taught year-round on four days per week, including safety training on the water and first aid exercises. The club is a mobile sailing club with its area in the Königsklinger Aue in Heidenfahrt on the Rhine. The club treasury funds qualifications including junior sailing certificates, sailing licences, lifesaving training, first aid courses, assistant coach training, inland boating licence in cooperation with Bootschule Mainz, DOSB youth leader training via Sportbund Rheinhessen, Trainer C licence via the Rhineland-Palatinate sailing association and club manager licence. Ingelheimer Segelclub e.V. is registered at Amtsgericht Mainz VR 41928 and recognised as a charitable organisation.
