Hiltruper Segel-Club e. V. (HiSC) is a long-established sailing club on Lake Hiltrup in Münster-Hiltrup, known locally as Münster's South Sea. Since its founding in 1968, the club has offered sailing right on the doorstep – with a two-storey clubhouse, boat workshop, renewed marina for around 40 dinghies and a large club-owned fleet. Racing classes include Optimist, 420, Conger, Pirat, Vaurien, VB-Jolle, Laser Bahia and ILCA 6 and 7; members without their own boat use club boats. A strong youth section with youth sailing certificate courses, the Pannekoken Regatta and an annual sailing holiday in Koudum shapes junior sailing. Adults benefit from sport boat licence training, regattas, trips on the North and Baltic Sea and in the Mediterranean, and an active offshore sailing group.

History

After Klaus Sundermann had driven preparations forward, the official founding meeting of Hiltruper Segelclub took place on 13 November 1968. The declared aim was to bring the joy of sailing as close as possible to as many residents of Hiltrup as possible. In spring 1969 the first boats could be launched and retrieved in the still provisional harbour on the peninsula between the two parts of the lake, while the first sailing courses also began – then on the northern lake, as the cut between the two lake sections did not yet exist. Membership numbers rose quickly, as did entries for club regattas. A hut on the peninsula became the first sailors' home. After only six years, the decision was taken to build a proper clubhouse. Its foundation stone was laid in November 1983 and it was inaugurated one year later. Dieter Alke joined shortly after founding, held the training and sports officer role for many years and served as 1st chairman from 1983 for 14 years; later as honorary chairman he left a lasting mark on club life, especially youth work. To this day, the two-storey house on the north shore with almost one hundred square metres of usable space provides lively and relaxed club life. Downstairs it houses a well-equipped boat workshop and a youth room; upstairs, alongside social rooms, there is a large club room with bar and open fireplace as well as arguably Hiltrup's finest balcony. On the lake, the marina designed by harbour master Emil Gonschorek in the 1980s and fundamentally renewed in 2021/22 offers berths for around 40 dinghies. For over 40 years the club has travelled with almost the entire fleet to Koudum in the Netherlands during the last week of the summer holidays for its traditional sailing camp. In 2018 Hiltruper Segelclub celebrated its 50th anniversary. Members look back proudly on countless trips on the North and Baltic Sea, in the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Hiltrup sailors achieved top placings at German championships and European and world championships. The club's youth and training work has been honoured several times by the German Sailing Association.

Sport boat licence training for inland waterways and coastal skipper certificate. Skipper training, social evenings and winter programme for juniors and adults.
