History

Herrschinger Segelclub was founded on 20 October 1929. The regatta sailors among the founding members ensured from the outset that regatta sailing would be at the heart of the HSC, and that focus remains unchanged today. The club combines competitive sailing with tradition, hospitality and a friendly atmosphere on Lake Ammersee in Herrsching. Every sailor visiting HSC regattas should be able to race at a high sporting level and celebrate carefree with competitors after the races. The HSC is a member of the German Sailing Association (DSV no. BA016), the Bavarian Sailing Association and the Bavarian State Sports Association, and is registered with Munich district court under VR 70391. The club has repeatedly hosted International German Championships: the 505er IDM in 2004 with 54 entries, the Dyas IDM in 2005 with 47 teams (winners Christian Schäfer and Anna Höll from HSC), the FD IDM in 2013, the Dyas IDM again in 2015 and the International German Laser and Laser Radial Championship in 2018. At the 2005 Dyas IDM the host HSC fielded 11 teams alone. The club's youth section is growing steadily; a youth board with seven members gives young sailors a voice and organises joint activities. The HSC runs an extensive annual regatta programme including Wednesday regattas from mid-April to mid-October, Pentecost regatta, Silberne Möwe for Optimists, Oktoberfest regatta and further events. Youth groups in Optimist and ILCA compete successfully at Bavarian championships and regattas on Lake Ammersee, Chiemsee, Starnberger See, Tegernsee and Lake Garda.
