Sejl- og Motorbådsklubben Grønsund
Sejl- og Motorbådsklubben Grønsund (SMG) is a sailing and motorboat club in Stubbekøbing on the Guldborgsund strait in Falster, Denmark. The club operates a clubhouse at the harbour basin, a mast house for winter storage of masts and booms, moorings at the SMG bridge with a mast crane, plus a barbecue area and outdoor kitchen. The programme includes regatta racing on eleven courses, Wednesday sailing with handicap ratings, the SMG EfterårsCUP distance race over 13 nautical miles in Grønsund, and an active SUP section with introductory courses and Thursday training. Juniors have a dedicated contact person, and new life jackets for juniors were funded by the Hempel Foundation. Interested sailors can enquire about berths at the bridge, and the club grounds include parking by the mast house.
History
Sejl- og Motorbådsklubben Grønsund (SMG) is based in Stubbekøbing on the Guldborgsund and documents its development in board minutes and annual reports from 2022 to 2025. The club runs a clubhouse, mast house and moorings at the SMG bridge, governing berth allocation and use of the mast crane, barbecue area and outdoor kitchen through detailed rules. Wednesday sailing uses individual handicap ratings for various boat types among the membership, including Dehler, Etchells and X-boat classes. SMG regularly hosts regattas and the SMG EfterårsCUP as a 13-nautical-mile distance race in Grønsund, linked to the Sydsjællands Pokalserie. Recently the club received a RIB from Nakskov Sejlklub, funded an outboard motor through DIF and DGI for faster support of sailors, and new junior life jackets through the Hempel Foundation. The SUP section plans weekly Thursday training from May in the 2026 season, and the club participates in community events such as Havnens Dag Stubbekøbing 2026.
