Gjøl Sejlklub
Gjøl Sejlklub is an active sailing club on the Limfjord at Gjøl Havn in Jammerbugt Municipality, Denmark. As a member of Dansk Sejlunion and Dansk Idrætsforbund, the non-profit club offers a wide range of water sports activities for all ages and skill levels. Facilities include a clubhouse, service building, on-site weather station, sauna by the water, club dinghies, and windsurfing and SUP equipment. The programme features regatta-style kapsejladser every other Tuesday, dinghy training on Wednesdays from May to September, windsurfing and SUP, the Krabbeklub for children aged 3 to 8, and women's sailing. Beginners can use club equipment including wetsuits and life jackets; in 2026 the club celebrates its 40th anniversary.
History
In 2026 Gjøl Sejlklub celebrates its 40th anniversary, with a flag-raising ceremony planned for 25 April 2026, indicating a founding around 1986. The club is a member of Dansk Sejlunion and through it also of Dansk Idrætsforbund; it operates as a non-profit association under Folkeoplysningsloven and is open to anyone who shares the club's aims and bylaws. Its purpose is to create opportunities for sailors in both cruising and racing, and to promote sailing through youth work in maritime settings. Over the years the club has developed into an active sailing community on the Limfjord, offering everything from kapsejladser to dinghy, windsurfing and SUP activities and the Krabbeklub for the youngest. Blog posts document school sailing trips with Gjøl Skole pupils, the reopening of Gjøl Havn to navigation, and regattas continuing despite COVID-19 restrictions. The 2026 general assembly was held on 10 February 2026 with strong attendance.
