Fahrtensegler-Club Königstein
The Fahrtensegler-Club Königstein (FSCK) is a Hessian cruising sailing club founded in 1995 by Dr Michael Bauer and fellow sailors, welcoming people of all ages – including complete beginners. Its main focus is regular flotilla cruises on the Baltic Sea, North Sea and Mediterranean for both novice and experienced sailors. Beyond cruise organisation, the club offers regular club life with club evenings, photo presentations of voyages and technical talks, as well as social events such as the Christmas party. Until 2019 the FSCK hosted the Hessen Regatta and still supports it today. The original idea of giving Hessian inland sailors a platform for Baltic cruising continues to shape the club.
History
The Fahrtensegler-Club Königstein was founded in 1995 by visionary Dr Michael Bauer together with ambitious sailing friends. The idea of creating a platform for Hessian inland sailors to go cruising on the Baltic Sea ultimately led to the Hessen Regatta. Until 2019, hosting the Hessen Regatta was a major focus of the club; the FSCK still supports the event. The club regularly organises flotilla cruises for beginners and experienced sailors on the Baltic Sea, North Sea and Mediterranean. After 2021, 2022 and 2023, successful flotilla cruises took place with well over 20 participants from several Hessian sailing clubs aboard five yachts. Club evenings play an important role in club life, where members present their cruises and holidays in photo talks and experienced sailors give technical presentations on sailing. Social gatherings, as shown by the Christmas party, are a fixed part of club life.
