YES Innsbruck – Sektion Segeln ESV Innsbruck

YES Innsbruck is the sailing section of Eisenbahnersportverein Innsbruck and sails on Lake Achensee, where the club grounds are located south of the Seehof. The club stands for community, the joy of sailing and an active club life – open to beginners and experienced sailors alike. Members benefit from club boats for hire, land moorings on Lake Achensee, club evenings at the club premises in Innsbruck, and regular regattas from club races to the Blue Ribbon of Lake Achensee. As a certified OeSV training centre, YES offers BFA inland sailing training every year; young sailors from age 8 can also obtain the youth regatta licence. Club regattas, long-distance regattas, season openings, peace flotilla sails and joint events shape the sporting and social programme on this Tyrolean alpine lake.

History

YES Innsbruck is the sailing section of Eisenbahnersportverein Innsbruck and pursues the purpose of sailing sport on Lake Achensee. The sailing area is Lake Achensee, with club grounds south of the Seehof; the club premises are in Innsbruck at Viaduktbogen 127. The club is open to all interested parties and not restricted to railway employees. As a certified training centre of the Austrian Sailing Federation (OeSV), YES trains its members annually for the BFA inland certificate, which is required for independent sailing on Lake Achensee and can be obtained from age 14. Children and young people from age 8 can also obtain the youth regatta licence. Club evenings, club boat hire, land moorings on Lake Achensee and a wide regatta programme – from club regattas and Blue Ribbon races to long-distance regattas – are central to club life. On 3 November 2025 the traditional end-of-season celebration and annual general meeting took place; section leader Walter Thurner reported on a successful season including BFA inland courses, club festival, club and long-distance regattas, Blue Ribbon closing race and peace flotilla. YES crews also sailed offshore, including participation in the Barcolana in Trieste. At the board elections for the following two years, Walter Thurner, Thomas Stippler, Fritz Sellemond, Alexandra Stippler-Jilg, Martin Rattacher, Walter Trescher, Peter Horngacher and Bernhard Knoflach were confirmed in their roles. Michael Jilg won the YES Cup for the first time in 2025.
