Duisburger Kanu- und Segel-Club e.V. (DKSC) is a traditional watersports club in the south of Duisburg on Lake Masuren within the Sechs-Seen-Platte. Founded in 1923, the club combines sailing, canoeing and stand-up paddling and has the longest tradition on this water. Four jetties, about 150 boats and the clubhouse with the public restaurant Haus Seeblick form the grounds. Training ranges from junior certificates on Optimists to inland and coastal pleasure craft licences as well as racing and cruising. An active youth section, school and university partnerships and regular training and club regattas shape club life.
History
Duisburger Kanu- und Segel-Club e.V. was founded in 1923 and looks back on nearly 100 years of tradition on the Sechs-Seen-Platte. Watersports were originally practised on the Rhine until the club moved to Lake Masuren in the 1970s. Today the grounds are at Strohweg 12 in Duisburg-Wedau with four jetties and about 150 boats. The clubhouse with the public restaurant Haus Seeblick offers a lakeside sun terrace and also hosts celebrations and weddings. Maritime tradition ashore is kept alive by the shanty choir and annual harbour concerts. Unique in North Rhine-Westphalia is the roughly 30-year partnership with Duisburg schools and the university. DKSC is the only club in Wedau offering sailing, canoeing and stand-up paddling. Cruising and racing sailors travel internationally; at home on Lake Masuren, regattas, jetty parties and barbecues foster community. Today the club has around 450 members.

Active sailing youth with Optimist training and junior sailing certificate; beginner training on Sundays at 13:00; partnerships with schools and university and Sechs-Seen-Platte sailing youth cooperation.
